Trumbull's First Half of October Got Crowded. Here's How to Plan It

On September 25, the town's Emergency Management Team postponed the Trumbull Arts Festival. The festival was set for Sunday, September 27, and the new date is Sunday, October 11. That one change filled October's first two weeks. Trumbull Restaurant Week was already set for October 2 through 9. The town's first Dog Day Festival was already on the calendar for October 3. The Halloween costume swaps fall on October 8 and 10. And the Twin Brooks Park farmers market has its last three Thursdays on October 1, 8, and 15.

Each of these is run by a different group on its own schedule. Now they all land within fifteen days, and Restaurant Week covers the middle eight. Plan the stretch as one calendar and the pieces fit together well.

The fifteen days at a glance

Date What's happening Where
Thu, Oct 1 Farmers market Twin Brooks Park, 1 Twin Brooks Drive
Fri, Oct 2 Restaurant Week begins 20 participating restaurants
Sat, Oct 3 Dog Day Festival, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Unity Park Pavilion, White Plains Road
Thu, Oct 8 Farmers market; costume swap, 5 to 7:30 p.m. Twin Brooks Park; Trumbull Library, 33 Quality Street
Fri, Oct 9 Restaurant Week ends
Sat, Oct 10 Costume swap, 9 a.m. to noon Trumbull High School, 72 Strobel Road
Sun, Oct 11 Arts Festival, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Town Hall Green, 5866 Main Street
Thu, Oct 15 Last farmers market of the season Twin Brooks Park

Two Thursdays in the table carry more than one event, and so does the weekend after Restaurant Week ends. Restaurant Week is the longest event, so it makes sense to start there.

Restaurant Week is a menu of deal types

Trumbull Restaurant Week first ran September 21 to 27, 2019. It came back in 2022 after a two-year break. The organizers are the town's Economic and Community Development office and the Trumbull Chamber of Commerce. This year's list has 20 places: Abi's Falafel, Antonio's Italian Kitchen & Bar, Best Edibles, Crown Pizza, Ecco Wine Bar, Franco Gianni's, Fryborg, Izumi Sushi, J Bagels & Cafe, Mex On Main, Natural Kitchen of Trumbull, Oggi Gelato, Old Towne Restaurant, Plasko's Farm Creamery, Prime One Eleven, Romanacci Pizza Bar, Sapore Italian Deli, Sunny Daes Ice Cream, Ten Asian Bistro and Trumbull Pizza Company.

Not every place offers a fixed-price meal. The week mixes prix-fixe menus with buy-one-get-one deals, percentage discounts and free items. Diners are asked to mention Restaurant Week when they order. Offers don't include tax or tip, and you can't combine them with other promotions. Because the deals take different forms, a pizza stop and a steak dinner both count as using the week. Each fits a different night.

The sit-down prix-fixe prices cover a wide range:

Restaurant Restaurant Week price
Antonio's Italian Kitchen & Bar $15 lunch, $25 dinner
Old Towne Restaurant $19.99 lunch, $28.99 dinner
Ecco Wine Bar $19.95 lunch, $29.95 dinner, wine pairings $17.95
Prime One Eleven $59 Surf & Turf

Old Towne has posted its full 2026 menu, and it's built around fall flavors. You get three courses. Start with Tuscan salad or butternut squash soup. A fall mac and cheese is on the menu too, with chicken rollatini or pork schnitzel as the main. Dessert is apple crisp or amaretto rice pudding. Prime One Eleven's $59 plate pairs a petite filet or 8-ounce NY strip with a Maine lobster tail or stuffed shrimp. Sides and a scoop of gelato come with it. The Antonio's and Ecco prices above are for 2026, but the menus linked on the Restaurant Week site are still last year's files. Ask about current dishes when you book.

The casual deals are easier to fit into a busy week:

  • Abi's Falafel: buy one chicken shawarma wrap, get one free.
  • Crown Pizza: the third large pizza is free.
  • Oggi Gelato: 20% off "Il Vento," its daily flavor.
  • Plasko's Farm Creamery: a deal that changes through the week, including half-off soft serve, a breakfast item with potato squares, half-off Italian ice and a cider special.

Oggi Gelato is new this year. It was announced in March for 51 Monroe Turnpike and held its ribbon cutting on June 13. That makes this its first Restaurant Week here.

The first Saturday starts at Unity Park

Restaurant Week's first full day is Saturday, October 3, the same day as the town's first Trumbull Dog Day Festival. Parks & Recreation runs the festival with presenting sponsor Choice Pet and partner Trumbull Animal Group. It goes from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Unity Park Pavilion on White Plains Road. Plans include local pet vendors, live demonstrations, giveaways, gourmet dog treats and a parade for dogs in costume. Admission and parking are free, dogs must stay leashed, and the event goes on rain or shine.

The 2 p.m. end time leaves the afternoon open, and Restaurant Week has only just started. If you're thinking about a dog in a Halloween costume, the timing works out well, since the costume swaps come later in the stretch.

Thursday, October 8 has the most going on

On October 8, three schedules overlap. Restaurant Week is in its second-to-last day. The farmers market at Twin Brooks Park has its second-to-last session. And the first Halloween Costume Swap runs from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Trumbull Library, 33 Quality Street. The swap is free, and the library's listing says you don't need to register.

Check the market hours before you go, because sources disagree on when it closes in October. CTvisit's seasonal listing and a Parks & Recreation listing for October 15 both say 4 to 6 p.m. The town calendar and the state Department of Agriculture directory both say 4 to 7 p.m. Under the earlier closing time, going to the market first and the library second is the only order that fits. You'd shop at Twin Brooks after 4, get to Quality Street once the swap opens at 5, and still have the evening for dinner.

The weekend after the deals end

Restaurant Week ends Friday, October 9. The next two days bring two more events.

The second costume swap runs Saturday, October 10, from 9 a.m. to noon at Trumbull High School, 72 Strobel Road. If Thursday evening didn't work, a Saturday morning with three weeks to go before Halloween still gives you time for alterations.

On Sunday, October 11, the postponed Arts Festival comes to the Town Hall Green at 5866 Main Street from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Entry and parking are free. The Artisans Market will have more than 60 local artists, crafters, photographers and jewelers. A food truck court will serve sandwiches, wood-fired pizza and desserts. Trumbull Community Women will host a Children's Creative Tent with free crafts. The gazebo schedule is set:

  1. 10:00 a.m., Tom Weber Children's Music
  2. 11:00 a.m., Yoga for Everybody
  3. 12:30 p.m., Molly Bryce
  4. 2:00 p.m., Mass Conn Fusion Quartet

The town suggests bringing lawn chairs and blankets. The schedule is aimed at families with young kids early and at listeners in the afternoon. Families can catch the 10 a.m. children's set and the craft tent, and the quartet closes the day at 2.

October 15 closes the market season

After the festival, one date is left. Thursday, October 15, is the last day of the Trumbull Farmers' Market's 2026 season at Twin Brooks Park. The season opened June 4. The same hours caveat applies. If you plan to shop late, use the 6 p.m. closing time listed by CTvisit and the Parks & Recreation listing, not the later time on the town calendar.

That completes the fifteen days. It runs from a Thursday market to a Thursday market, with eight days of restaurant deals in between and an arts festival that wasn't supposed to be there.
